CoinScouts Description
Tellor is a decentralized oracle that provides a solution for off-chain data inputs to smart contracts on the Ethereum blockchain. Smart contracts on Ethereum are restricted in accessing off-chain data, and this is where Tellor comes in to solve the problem. The Tellor system enables parties to request off-chain data values, and miners compete to add these values to an on-chain data bank accessible by all Ethereum smart contracts. Tellor uses a network of staked miners to secure inputs to a data series, and its smart contract creates a time series of each requested data series. With its goal of becoming the standard source of high-value data for decentralized applications, Tellor's oracle utilizes similar incentive mechanisms to other cryptocurrency systems, through the issuance of its token, Tributes, which are used to request a particular data series from miners.
